Anchovy and Fig Crostini
Crostini Acciughe e Fichi
Crispy crostini with a rustic cream of fresh figs, salted anchovies, and garlic.
Anchovy and fig crostini are a simple and flavorful dish, perfect for an aperitif or a buffet, offering a distinct combination of sweetness and savory flavors. The soft flesh of the figs meets the intense flavor of the anchovies and the aromatic note of the garlic, forming a creamy spread on toasted bread. The result alternates the velvety texture of the topping with the crunchiness of the base, creating a particularly striking contrast with every bite. This recipe is typical of Sardinian cuisine. The preparation does not require cooking the topping: the main focus is on cleaning the ingredients, pounding them until smooth, and toasting the bread until it dries and browns without burning. Pistoccu bread offers a second serving option, maintaining a dry and crunchy base.
